In Volume 1, Issue 1 of The Journal of Leadership Education, Townsend (2002) posed a series of questions to the journal’s new readership around this “concept” of leadership education, including, “What is the true purpose of leadership education?” and “Are leadership educators driving fantasy programs or factual programs?” (p. 35).
